Dia: Beacon

Dia: Beacon is the home away from New York City of the Dia Foundation's modern art collection. It's an impressive collection, with artists from Warhol to Richter, Nauman to LeWitt, Serra and Smithson, amongst others, represented. As it is located in a renovated Nabsico warehouse on the banks of the Hudson River, a visit makes for a great day out of the city - combine a trip with a hike and lunch in Hudson for a full on day.

It's easy to get to from the city, by train, bus or car. Full directions here.
