La Bonne Soupe

Head to this warm, friendly restaurant and dig into tasty French comfort food like the Omelette Paysanne, with onions, ham, potatoes and parsley and the Cabillaud Aux Epices–blackened codfish served over frisée salad with sundried tomatoes and cilantro dressing.

Kids will open wide for the Steak Haché–hamburger with tomato sauce topped and melted mozzarella; it comes with a salad and fries and is big enough to feed two little mouths. The Omelette Au Fromage–aka a cheese omelette–and the Minestrone, with diced vegetables, pasta and parmesan–are both mild enough for even the most persnickety palettes. A junior menu ($10.50) also offers hamburger, cheeseburger or grilled chicken breast served with french fries, and ice cream, creme caramel, or mousse au chocolat for dessert.

All the crepes here are savory and include La Florentine–spinach, mushrooms and béchamel, L'Italienne–chicken, mozzarella, roasted peppers and mushrooms, and Lasagne a La Francaise–a crepe filled with bolognaise and béchamel sauce baked with mozzarella.

48 W 55th St between 5th and 6th; 212-586-7650; E, V to 5th Ave/53rd.
